Stroll Writing Contest Rules
November 2007
- Thank you for entering the First Annual Stroll Student Writing Contest! Please be very sure you are following all of the rules carefully, as to not be disqualified. Good Luck!
- Please include your complete name as you would want it printed in Stroll, should you win, address, phone number, email (only your name will be printed).
- Please also include basic bio information, such as: your age; grade if you are a student or your job/career; where you are from; how long you have lived in the TC area; other hobbies/interests; family information; etc.
- Contest is open to all ages.
- Your final piece must:
- be significantly related to some aspect of Downtown Traverse City's history;
- be between 700-800 words in length.
- typed, free of grammatical and spelling errors;
- be appropriately cited and historically accurate;
- received no later than February 1, 2008, either via email as an attachment or through the mail on a disk.
- please note that if you find a photo, include a copy of it, 300 dpi, with credit of who took it or where you found it.

You could research and write about the history of a particular building or a person who had significance in the downtown, a group of people in the downtown, past customs, the Cherry Festival or some piece of it, etc. Please be creative!
A wonderful resource for research is the Grand Traverse Historical Society, located in the old library on Sixth Street. Call 231-995-0313 for hours.
